BACF Board meeting 5

A  Board Meeting of the Baa Atoll Conservation Fund Board for 2015 was held on 29 January 2015 at the Ministry of Environment and Energy. Six participants from five stakeholder groups were present in this meeting which included  representatives from the Resorts ( B A A R U ), Lo c a l  Government Authority, Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve Office and Baa Atoll Conservation Fund.
Agenda Items for discussion for the day included presentation of BR Workplan 2015, Presentation of Income and Expenditure BACF 2014, Updates on Baa Atoll Conservation Fund Grants. The participants of the meeting were briefed on the above by the BR Office and Baa Atoll Conservation Fund.
 

New Police Chief of Baa Atoll briefed on BR and BACF

A meeting was undertaken on 9 February 2015 with the new Station Commander of Baa Atoll Police Station, Station Inspector Ibrahim Waheed.  During  this  meeting  the StationCommander was briefed on Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve, Workplan for 2015, Baa Atoll Conservation Fund and also on the need for collective monitoring and management of protected areas of Baa Atoll.
The New Station Commander also stress on the  need  for collective management of the protected areas and assured BR Office that the Maldives Police Service will be cooperating in every possible way with the Office.
 

Baa Atoll Council meets BR Office

The BR Team has met with Baa Atoll Council to discuss upcoming Environment Day celebrations for this year upon request from the Council. The meeting which was held on 23 March also covered discussions in relation to Goidhoo and Olhugiri Management Plans and how the Atoll Council could assist in finalizing these 2 plans. The Atoll Council also shared with the BR Team the Environment Policy of the atoll.
 

BR team visits LECReD Project Area

Representatives from BR Office has briefed LECReD Laamu working group on AEC Project, Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve and Baa Atoll Conservation Fund at a meeting held from 27 Feb - 1 March in Laamu Atoll.
