Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere Reserve officially launched
The President of Maldives Dr. Mohamed Waheed has officially launched the Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and Baa Atoll Conservation Fund. The function was held at Baa atoll Eydhafushi Bahiyya Pre-School ON 13 June 2012. The event was attended by Minister of Environment and Energy Dr. Mariyam Shakeela, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Mr. Ahmed Adheeb Abdul Ghafoor, Minister of Fishers and Agriculture Mr. Ahmed Shafeeu, Minister of State Mr. Abdul Matheen Mohamed, Deputy Minister Mr. Abdullahi Majeed, partners from the resort community, members of the Atoll and Island Councils dignitaries from the UN , students, members of the public and the media.
Hanifaru Protection and Preservation Regulation (2012/R-23) go into effect from 26th April 2012
The Environmental Protection Agency has started the implementation of the Hanifaru Protection and Preservation Regulation (2012/ R-23).
